It is with a heavy heart and great sadness to let you know Sensei Harada passed away peacefully at home early hours on Friday 26th February 2021, I was there with him until the end.
It was his wish that his death and cremation to be kept secret with only few to know then after his cremation which was Thu 18th March 2021, I could then let people know. He gave me specific instructions which I have done my best to follow. Sensei asked for you not to be upset about this arrangement as he said “It is my last wish”. Those who knew him well would have heard him mention this idea over the years, also he always looked at Gichin Funakoshi's death & funeral and what happened there and did not want that to happen with his.
Sensei Harada said that at an appropriate time and if KDS wishes it can organise a Memorial party where we can all get together to celebrate his life and share our memories of him. Also he did mention on various occasions that his ashes to be scattered in each country, so I will arrange the scatter boxes and will hand them over at an appropriate time in the future.
The last few months has been one of the toughest and most emotional thing I have had to go through in my life. For me it was an honour and a privilidge to be part of his life and also for him to entrust upon me to follow through his last wishes.
I would appreciate it if each of you in each country to communicate this sad news to your members in which way you feel is best.
